MONROE TOWNSHIP, SNYDER COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) say they have launched an investigation after over $1,500 in merchandise was stolen from a Monroe Township retail store.
PSP states they were called to the LensCrafters store in the Monroe Marketplace on Thursday, February 13, for a reported retail theft.
Troopers explain that the suspect removed four pairs of high-end sunglasses and replaced three of them with 'inexpensive knock-offs.'

State police say they are looking for a person wearing a dark-colored jacket and gray sweatpants who left the scene in a dark-colored mid-size SUV.

Stroudsburg holds 'Zoo on Ice' Winterfest
STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — There are some ice sculptures, but this time, with an animal theme. Stroudsburg held their "Zoo on Ice" themed Winterfest in their Courthouse Square.
The event had activities for all, featuring a scavenger hunt with prizes from Shawnee Mountain Ski Area and the potting shed, local vendors, and special promotions from some local businesses.

"I think it's great, especially for those of us that may not enjoy skiing and kind of winter sports, it's a great way for us to kind of connect with the community. And not just kind of be isolated at home," said Stroudsburg resident and festival-goer Tiffany Torres.
The animal ice sculptures will continue to be out in Stroudsburg even if you missed the festivities.
Painting the mountain pink in Monroe County for breast cancer awareness
MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Many people wear pink for breast cancer awareness, but people were out painting the mountain in East Stroudsburg to show their support.
Shawnee Mountain Ski Area held its Ninth Annual Collaboration with the Hope for Strength Fund to raise money to support people fighting breast cancer and their families.
Skiiers and snowboarders who attended Saturday could make donations or participate in raffles to support the cause.

Traffic restrictions being put in place across NEPA
(WBRE/WYOU)— The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is putting in place some traffic restrictions as winter weather starts to creep into our area.
