It’s been seven years since police started searching for three teenagers who threw a small dog to a pitbull in Stroud Township ending its life.
Since then monetary reward signs have been posted on multiple trees and utility poles near Blue Mountain Lake. Now the amount has not only grown nearly seven fold but the signs are naming someone who may know those involved.Kirk Tilton says, "They had the dog chained there in the one tree there and then they had this small little innocent dog, and they just picked the dog up and they just threw it to the pitbull. And the dog just attacked it."

Bicyclist hurt in Monroe County crash - WNEP
Bicyclist seriously injured after collision with car
CHESTNUTHILL TWP. MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A bicyclist is seriously injured after colliding with a car on Route 209, police stated.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, on October 22 around 5:00 p.m., troopers were called to Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township for a crash involving a bike and an SUV.
Fire officer found dead after volunteering at trunk-or-treatPolice say the bicyclist made an "unsafe road crossing" and collided with the SUV.
The bicyclist, a 21-year-old from Effort, sustained serious injury and was flown to Lehigh Valley Anderson.
His current condition is unknown.
Pumpkin Palooza Contest
The Mountaineer Newspaper is hosting a Pumpkin Palooza Decorating contest for the SHS faculty and the voting is completely in the students’ control.

We had 15 participants this year: Officer Rodriguez, Austin, Hakim, DeMartino, Bullock, Kontos, Keller, Wood, Gondella, Griswold, DeRenzis, Bruski, the Guidance Department, and the Library. If you counted those names, you’ll notice there are only 14. Ms. Ramstine was also a participant, but her pumpkin broke in the carving process. She gets an A for effort.

Stroudsburg High School has always had an amazing fan base and a great student section. The section always plans fun themes for the football games. Some of the themes for our football games include hawaiian, white out, black out, USA, neon, camo, pink out, and many more! These themes are created by our Mountie Maniacs.
Our 2024-2025 Mountie Maniacs are Jessica Klein, ’25, and Anthony Knight, ’25. Klein and Knight always are cheering on our Mountaineers and hyping up our student section.

Man allegedly assaulted officers after ignoring roadblock
TANNERSVILLE, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man was arrested after police say he assaulted officers when he refused to stop for a roadblock due to a crash.
According to the Pocono Township Police Department, on October 21 around 10:30 a.m., officers were on the scene of a crash and traffic was stopped in all directions.
Police say a construction truck entered the intersection, ignoring orders to stop. The driver, Kyle Dale, 30, of Scranton, refused to stop, provide his driver's license, or get out of his vehicle, officers reported.
