Politics in “The Hunger Games”

Everyone knows TikTok and Instagram, but have you heard of BookTok and Bookstagram?  These platforms allow people to argue the place of politics in literature. Some argue that writers should “keep politics out of books,” but is it that simple?  Books have always been political. It’s the very reason why they’re burned and banned.  Luz, a literary blog, explains that literature and…

Meet Biscuit

Hi, my name is Biscuit and I am 2 years and 10 months old. I have medium energy and enjoy playing with toys but also love relaxing in a cozy environment. I am crate trained and keep my kennel clean overnight. I am still learning commands and may need a belly band initially while indoors. I get along well with other dogs, though I might sometimes mount them. My behavior is more frequent with males…

Eggs crisis affects community

Egg prices have been on the rise since last year and have doubled in the last three months, which is unprecedented. Avian Influenza (AI) has killed approximately 15 percent of the bird population, which includes the 27 million birds lost since the beginning of the new year. Officials say this situation will only get worse, which is why the Mountaineer reached out to the local Burger King at the…

SHS students love walking tacos

With the expectation of having walking tacos, students made their way to the cafeteria for fourth-period lunch on March 13. What students did not expect to see was a line starting at the door. With looks of disdain plastered across many faces, students grabbed their trays and joined the queue. This served as a preview of what the rest of the lunches would look like. The notorious walking taco…

“I’ll Be Alright”

You never know where the talent lies. Sometimes it’s hidden in plain sight like small, suburban Stroudsburg High School. It’s time this talent is recognized beyond our school’s community. Historic women knock out stereotypes

March is Women’s History Month. The Mountaineer would like to take this opportunity to highlight women in sports. According to Women’s History, the Girls Athletic Association (GAA) was formed in the 1920s. It included softball, volleyball, dance, tennis, bowling, and archery.
