A total of $15,962 was raised in the fight against cancer as East Stroudsburg University and the American Cancer Society teamed up to host its annual Relay for Life on Friday, April 4.
The six-hour event brought hundreds of students and community supporters together inside Koehler Fieldhouse from 6 p.m. to midnight to celebrate survivors, recognize caregivers and honor lives lost to cancer.
PASSHE, Major Employers Expand Partnership to Give Students Valuable Real-World Learning Experiences
Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) is expanding its work-based learning initiative, thanks to new funding to further connect universities and employers and provide students with real-world, hands-on learning experiences.
The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) awarded the PASSHE Foundation a $350,000 grant for a three-year investment in work-based learning at Commonwealth, East Stroudsburg and Slippery Rock universities.
Dr. Christopher Fiorentino, current interim chancellor and former president of West Chester University, was selected as the chancellor of Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) today by the Board of Governors. Fiorentino will be PASSHE’s sixth chancellor.
East Stroudsburg University’s Student Activity Association, in conjunction with the Student Government Association, hosted their annual Student Organization Awards Banquet on Sunday, April 6. The banquet honored select clubs and organizations for their achievements during the 2024 calendar year. During the banquet the following awards were presented:
On Saturday, April 5, East Stroudsburg University welcomed 40 gifted students from local and regional school districts to the Saturday Gifted Institute. ESU students taking Instructional Planning in Special Education (SPED 215) created a day of hands-on learning for elementary and middle school aged children (grades 2-8.)
MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Authorities have arrested and charged two men for allegedly trafficking over 500 grams of methamphetamine in Pennsylvania.
According to the Acting U.S. Attorney John C. Gurganus, a federal grand jury charged Eli Valentine Calero, 43, of East Stroudsburg, and John Charles Ehrhard, Jr., 56, of Stroudsburg, with drug trafficking and firearms offenses.
Between May 2024 and March 2025, Calero and Ehrhard, Jr. allegedly conspired to sell over 500 grams of methamphetamine in Monroe County.
Traditionally a time to rest and recharge, spring break served as a rewarding learning opportunity for students in three East Stroudsburg University programs.
Costa Rica, Guatemala and a cruise bound for the Bahamas became classrooms for the groups as they applied critical skills, learned from industry professionals and immersed themselves in other cultures.
