MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Many people wear pink for breast cancer awareness, but people were out painting the mountain in East Stroudsburg to show their support.

Shawnee Mountain Ski Area held its Ninth Annual Collaboration with the Hope for Strength Fund to raise money to support people fighting breast cancer and their families.

Skiiers and snowboarders who attended Saturday could make donations or participate in raffles to support the cause.

Traffic restrictions being put in place across NEPA

"One out of every eight women will have been diagnosed with breast cancer. I was diagnosed in 2011. And so I was diagnosed, I live outside of this area, I live in Washington DC and there were a lot of resources there and so I said to my parents 'There's a lot of resources for me there, let's pay it back here,'" said Co-Founder of Hope for Strength Fund Staci Beers.

100% of the proceeds for the event will go to the Hope for Strength Fund.

Organizers are still counting up the proceeds, but they expect to raise between $3,000 and $5,000.
