Police investigation underway in Pocono Township

POCONO TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Officials confirm there's a heavy police presence in the area of Pocono Township.

Details are limited at the time, however, 28/22 News can confirm officials are in the area of Brookdale Road just after 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.

PD: Deadly shooting near Northumberland County Courthouse

Officials could not say why police were on the scene or if anyone was injured.

CRESCO, PA (August 13, 2024) — The situation at the Oak Ridge Lane & Ridge Road residence in Cresco has taken a troubling turn. Early on Sunday, August 11, at approximately 12:30 AM, police were once again dispatched to the home, this time in response to a domestic disturbance. The eldest son of the household was reportedly holding the rest of the family at knifepoint.

Three arrested after alleged retail theft at Lowe's

STROUD TWP., MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Three men have been arrested after police say they committed multiple retail thefts at Lowe's.

According to the Stroud Area Regional Police Department, on July 31, around 8:00 a.m. officers were called to Lowe’s in Stroud Township for a report of a retail theft in progress.

The loss prevention employee told officers that three suspects were part of at least two other thefts that happened at Lowe’s stores in Rhode Island.

Through investigation it was learned that all three defendants coordinated to come to Monroe County specifically to steal merchandise and resell it.

Family sets up GoFundMe after auto shop fire

BRODHEADSVILLE, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — 28/22 News is still waiting for the cause of a fire that completely destroyed a Monroe County auto body shop.

The cause of that fire in Brodheadsville still remains unknown, but the family has set up a GoFundMe account to help them financially recover.

According to the GoFundMe post, the family-owned garage lost everything from tools to cars.
