On May 24, 2024, at 11:22 a.m., the Stroud Area Regional Police Department was dispatched to the Walmart in East Stroudsburg for a report of a retail theft. Upon arrival the officer met with the loss prevention officer who related that this individual is a suspect in multiple other retail theft incidents at that store and was identified as Shaniah Malikia Tarrant. Loss prevention was able to provide that Tarrant was involved in retail thefts on March 8, 2024- twice; April 22, 2024- twice; and April 26, 2024 - twice. During these incidents Tarrant concealed items in a shopping bag and exited the store, under-rang merchandise at the register, pushed out merchandise twice without paying, and took items from the store shelves and returned them at customer service receiving gift cards and credit to her credit card. The total value was $377.12.
Charges were filed and a bench warrant was issued for Shaniah Malikia Tarrant for failure to appear for court.
