ARRESTDetails MapOn February 5, 2025 at approximately 1945 hours, the Pocono Township Police Department was dispatched to a report of a reckless driver traveling North on State Route 611 in Swifwater. Officers located the vehicle and observed it to be swerving all over the roadway. After attempting a traffic stop, the vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit was initiated. During the pursuit, an Officer and several other motorists were nearly struck by the suspect vehicle. The ten mile pursuit came to an end in Tobyhanna, after the vehicle's tire was successfully deflated by stop sticks and the vehicle became disabled. The driver of the vehicle, William Watkins, a 64-year-old male from Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania, was taken into custody and found to be heavily intoxicated. Watkins was placed into the Monroe County Correctional Facility on all charges to await arraignment.
