Non-profit sending help to North Carolina hurricane victims

POLK TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A local veterans shelter in Monroe County is answering the call to help victims of Hurricane Helene.

Residents and supporters of VALOR Clinic gathered supplies and other necessities at Paul's House to help people in North Carolina.

"What we are looking for is the items to help give them heat and the cooking ability. Anything that has to do with wood, fire, splitters," House Manager of Paul's House Erin Kelly said.

Victim identified after being hit by car on Rt. 115

CHESTNUTHILL TWP., MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Monroe County coroner has identified the man who was killed after being hit by a car on Route 115.

According to Coroner Thomas A. Yanac, Eric Schecter, 57, from Chestnuthill Township, was pronounced dead at the scene after being hit by a car on October 10.

Police seek theft suspect at Pocono Premium Outlets

Schecter was struck while walking along Rt 115 in Chestnuthill Township. After an autopsy report, the cause of death remains pending.

Pennsylvania State Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
