Short-term rentals or Transient Dwelling Units as they are referred to as in Pocono Township are not allowed in R-1 and R-2 zoning areas in Pocono Township. Short term rentals are only allowed in C (Commercial) zones and RD (Recreational District) zones. The Pocono Township Board of Commissioners implemented a one mill tax increase for 2023 to address continued stagnant revenues, an ongoing budget deficit and significant personnel-driven cost increases. In addition, the Township has been taking definitive steps to plan for the renovation and/or relocation of the Township municipal facilities.
In real numbers, one mill is equivalent to $100 for every $100,000 in assessed value. Therefore, if Monroe County assigns a property an assessed value of $200,000, a one mill tax increase is $200.
The Pocono Township Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Monday, February 6, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. for consideration and adoption of Ordinance 2023-01 establishing regulations for Truck Terminal/Distribution and Warehouse Uses and adoption of an Enterprise Park Overlay District.

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
NOTICE is hereby given that the Board of Commissioners of Pocono Township, Monroe County, Pennsylvania, will consider for adoption at a Public Hearing to be held at 10:00 a.m. on the 29th day of December 2022, at the Pocono Township Municipal Building, 112 Township Drive, Tannersville, Pennsylvania, 18372, an Ordinance adopting a Budget and Appropriating Funds estimated to be required for the Purposes of the Government of the Township of Pocono and Fixing the Real Estate Millage Rate for the 2023 Fiscal Year.
The Pocono Township Board of Commissioners will hold a special meeting at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 for consideration of architectural feasibility proposals for the Township’s new municipal complex and any other business that might come before the Board.
Discussion will include current and future needs for Police, Administration and Public Works. The Township’s architectural consultant will present an evaluation of the existing complex versus the potential acquisition of Pocono Elementary Center property.

The regularly scheduled October 24, 2022 meeting of the Pocono Township Planning Commission is canceled, as there is no new business before the Commission.

The public hearing of the Pocono Township Zoning Hearing Board scheduled for Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at 5:00 P.M. concerning the appeal of CMBK Resort Holdings, LLC, has been CANCELED. The Applicant withdrew its appeal of the Township’s Enforcement Notices issued on April 18, 2022.
