Short Term Rental Information

Short-term rentals or Transient Dwelling Units as they are referred to as in Pocono Township are not allowed in R-1 and R-2 zoning areas in Pocono Township. Short term rentals are only allowed in C (Commercial) zones and RD (Recreational District) zones. An initial change of use permit under zoning and an annual license is required for a Transient Dwelling Unit Permit (STR)  See rules and regulations as well as permit application below.

TANNERSVILLE, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Police arrested two people they believe were plotting to steal cooking oil from two Monroe County businesses.

On April 30 around 4:45 a.m., the Pocono Township Police Department said they were called to an attempted theft from the Scotrun Diner.

Investigators arrived on the scene and said they learned two people parked a van next to the grease traps in the rear of the diner and left after being noticed by a witness.

POCONO TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Mexican culture was celebrated with mariachi music, tacos, and crowds in Monroe County.

The inaugural "Poconos Taco Fest" was held today at Pocono Park in honor of Cinco de Mayo. Tacos were grilled for crowds throughout the day.

People also enjoyed delicious food from street trucks and vendors, watched lucha libre which are Mexican wrestling matches, and listened to traditional Mexican folk music.

A New York man was arrested after police say he kicked kittens and strangled a victim during a domestic dispute.

According to the Pocono Township Police Dept., on April 28, officers responded to the Days Inn along Motor Lodge Road in Tannersville for a domestic dispute.

 

At the scene, the victim, who police said had visible injuries, said that 31-year-old Darrell Hubbard of Brooklyn, N.Y., kicked their kittens across the motel room, and punched and choked the victim before fleeing.

POCONO TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Two women are wanted in an alleged $3,000 theft from a store at the Pocono Premium Outlets.

The Pocono Township Police Department announced they are seeking help in identifying the suspects pictured below.

According to police, the two individuals above were involved in stealing $3,000 worth of product from the Sunglass Hut at the Pocono Premium Outlets on April 20.

The Pocono Township Police Department is searching for the identity of the suspect pictured in a retail theft that occurred at Lids in the Pocono Premium Outlets on April 13.
