Presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. ARRESTDetails MapOn July 8, 2024 at 1906 hours, officers from the Pocono Township Police Department responded to the TLC park basketball court for a report of 5-6 people physically fighting. Officers responded and found that there was a disagreement between 8 men during a basketball game, which lead to a large fight.
Witnesses on scene reported that during the fight, one of the men brandished a firearm and pointed it at several people in the court. The male that brandished the firearm and three other men fled the scene in a vehicle prior to officers arrival. Officers made contact with Joseph J Nieves, the defendant in this matter, who was still on scene. Nieves admitted that there was an altercation during the basketball game, but denied being involved.
Upon reviewing the surveillance video of the incident, it was observed that Nieves had lied to the officers and was an active participant in the fight.
Charges were filed on Nieves for Simple Assault, Harassment and Disorderly Conduct and he is awaiting a preliminary hearing at Magisterial District Judge Daniel Kresge's office
