Softball strikes out South 9-0

Mounties softball swept East Stroudsburg South in a game of 9-0 with seven total innings. The first game win is in the books!   Many speculated that the game would be postponed due to predicted rain; all coaches agreed to move the game up by one hour for a 3 p.m. start. Stroudsburg gained 4 runs in the first inning. Hits by Elena Trotter, ‘25, Dorothy “Dot” Elko, ‘26, and a walk for Izzy Molinero, ‘25, got the ball rolling for Stroudsburg.  Stroudsburg kept their defense tight on Thursday as there were only four hits out of 24 at-bats. South had a total of five strikeouts compared to Stroudsburg’s one strikeout.  Jordan Cook, ‘27, pitched for Stroudsburg against the Cavs for all seven innings.  Cook pitched a near-perfect game with only one walk, faced 25 batters and 64 percent of her pitches were strikes.

Today, Stroudsburg baseball continues its 2025 campaign as they host Pocono Mountain East in their home opener. Last week, the team defeated East Stroudsburg South, 4-0, in their season opener on the back of 5 shutout innings from Damian Budhai, ’27. Budhai was also one of three Stroudsburg hitters to drive in runs, along with Paulie Maccarrone, ’25, and Will Ferguson, ’26. The team returns seven seniors this season, Gavin Bunn, Scott Diaz, John Gizzo, Anthony Knight, Connor Litts, Maccarrone, and Alex Pacitti. Knight led the team in home runs, runs batted in, and slugging percentage, and was top three in both batting average, on-base percentage, and fielding percentage. Pacitti and Diaz were one and two when it comes to team rank of stolen bases.
