Nathan Strunk Letter to Rosemary Brown (PMSD Board Director)
As a community, we have repeatedly voiced our concerns and requests regarding the urgent need for education funding reform and Cyber Charter reform. The Pocono Mountain School District Board of Education has, time and, time again, unanimously and bipartisanly passed resolutions calling for our state officials to take action. Every board since 2012 has been calling for this same exact legislation.
The Basic Education Funding commission's report on HB2370 shows that Pocono Mountain stands to gain a 20% increase in BEF contributions, a one-time equity payment of $6,000,000, and nearly $7,500,000 in annual savings from Cyber Charter reform. With this money, we can not only roll back property taxes to pre-COVID levels but also lower them even further.
Re: Kidnapped Females, Shipping Container, PA National Guard
One of the suspects, Davaun Jackson, is a former member of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. This aspect of the story has raised concerns about the need for a broader discussion on veterans and mental health, an issue often overlooked in public discourse. The omission of this detail by many news outlets highlights the challenges and stigma surrounding mental health support for veterans.
Jackson's previous employment history, based on his Facebook profile, includes positions such as site officer security contractor at Kalahari Resorts - Poconos, officer at AlliedBarton Security Services, and various roles at companies like Fairchild Semiconductor Corporation, M&T Bank, Wells Fargo, Hayward Laboratories Corporation, Cigna HealthCare, and Wendy's. He also worked as an officer at Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport and attended Pocono Mountain West High School.
