ESU Holds Latino Heritage Month Film Series
East Stroudsburg University celebrates Latino Heritage Month with its 11th Latino Heritage Film Series. The festival will be held on Saturday, September 21 in Beers Lecture Hall on ESU’s campus. The festival is co-sponsored by the Department of Modern Languages, Philosophy, and Religion; the Office of the Provost; the College of Arts & Sciences; the Department of Sociology, Social Work, and Criminal Justice; the ESU Foundation; and Kemp Library.
Moment of reflection
Today, Sept. 11, 2024, students at Stroudsburg High School took a moment of silence to mourn the lives of those lost 23 years ago.
The exact number of those killed during the attack is unknown, but the estimate is about 3,000 innocent people.
Much like how the nation came together in the weeks after the attack, every year we come together to respect the everyday civilians, police men, firefighters, and everyone else wrongfully killed on that day.
ESU Names Marty Flynn Legislative Fellow for 2024-2025 Academic Year
East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania announced the selection of its 2024-2025 Legislative Fellow, Senator Marty Flynn, at a breakfast held in his honor on Wednesday, September 11. ESU President Kenneth Long introduced Senator Flynn at the event to university faculty, students, staff and special guests from the community.
The Legislative Fellow program, established in 1999, is designed to bring state legislators to campus to participate in a variety of campus activities and to meet formally and informally with students, faculty and staff throughout the year.
Anime is moving at a steady pace
Statistics show that up to 72 percent of people in the United States watch anime, but it hasn’t always been this way. Despite its current popularity, anime has had a troubled history regarding viewership.
Typically, most people tend to steer away from things considered different or unusual. In the United States, anime tends to have the reputation of being intended for outcasts. With its lively visuals, scripts, and voice acting, it easily defies the more realistic tendencies of Western cartoons.
The spirited nature of the medium often strikes unfamiliarity, unlike its appeal in Japan, where this form of entertainment originated.
A major turning point in this consensus occurred at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
