Hamilton Township

Hamilton Township is a township of the second class and is governed by a 3 person Board of Supervisors who are elected to six-year terms. The board is responsible for all Township policies and legislation that govern this community. Part of its job is to appoint members to the Planning Commission, the Zoning Hearing Board, and to make other appointments as it deems necessary. The population of Hamilton Township is approximately 9,083. The Township covers approximately 38.5 square miles with 81.1 miles of Township roads and 59.5 miles of state roads. 

It's home to Cherry Valley Vineyards and the Appalachian Trail, offering scenic beauty and outdoor adventures.

Short-term rentals are not allowed in Hamilton Township. Any property in a designated “A” zoning area is strictly prohibited from rentals. Use of C-1 zoning (commercial) property for short-term rentals should apply for an approved use as a hotel/motel which requires a variance granted by the zoning board.

Scholarship Dinner

The East Stroudsburg University Foundation hosted its 16th Annual Scholarship Dinner, SPOTLIGHT, on April 2, 2025, at Terraview at Stroudsmoor Country Inn in Stroudsburg, Pa. Presented by the Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union, the event brought together more than 300 guests, including donors, students, and alumni, to celebrate the life-changing impact of scholarships.

Hamilton Elementary Principal, Mark Getz sent a letter to parents on April 10 addressing a lunch incident involving several children the day before.

Several first-grade students were “observed” with blue painters’ tape covering their mouths during lunch. It was later learned that a lunch monitor was responsible for the act.

SNYDERSVILLE, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A local volunteer fire company is shedding light on its need for funding to continue its service in the Poconos.

You can always find turnout gear out at firehouses like the Blue Ridge Hook and Ladder in Snydersville ready for firefighters to grab and go in an emergency. But when there isn’t a call in Monroe County, they’re closing up shop and heading to work.

Blue Ridge is 100% volunteer, meaning a majority of its funding comes from grants and fundraising.

Monroe County's townships have supervisor and, in Pocono Township's case, commissioner elections in 2025.

March 11 was the deadline for candidates to file. Primary elections will be held on May 20. The voter registration deadline is May 5.

An investigation is underway at Hamilton Elementary School following an incident that occurred during the first-grade lunch period on Wednesday, April 9th. According to a letter sent home to parents, a staff member was observed placing blue painter’s tape on the mouths of several students.

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A staff member at a local elementary school has been suspended.

After the school says some students were found with tape over their mouths during lunch period earlier this week.

An elementary school in Stroudsburg sent a letter out to parents and guardians saying a staff member had put this blue painter's tape on students' mouths Wednesday.

MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — An investigation is underway after a school staff member taped the mouths of 1st grade students during lunch, according to district officials.

Superintendent Dr. Curry has told 28/22 News that the district is investigating an incident where 1st grade students were found with tape on their mouths.

According to a letter from Hamilton Elementary School Principal Mark Getz, on April 9, some students were seen to have blue painter's tape on their mouths that was placed there by a staff member during lunch.
