In January 2023, Jackson Township updated its short-term rental rules and excluded the Residential and Industrial zoning areas from being eligible for new STR licenses. Short-term rentals are allowed in the Recreation/Commercial District, Commercial District Conservation District and Village Districts of Jackson Township. On January 30, 2025, the Stroudsburg boys’ basketball team defeated Plesant Valley 64-54 on Senior Night. This was the first time Stroudsburg had defeated PV since 2021.
Stroudsburg came into this game with high hopes of taking down PV, especially against a home crowd and on Senior Night. Stroudsburg was celebrating this game for all of its senior cheerleaders and boys’ basketball players. A big congratulations to Marvin Dorvilus and Alex Pacitti.
Both teams were off to a slow start, exchanging baskets with the score of 16-11 at the end in favor of Stroudsburg.

On January 23, 2025, the Stroudsburg boys’ basketball team defeated their biggest rival, East Stroudsburg South, 59-44. This is Stroudsburg’s first win in the calendar year and it wasn’t an easy one.
Coming into the game, SHS’s spirits were high. The last time these two teams faced off the game came down to the last shot of the game.
Stroudsburg’s game developed slowly with a score of 5-12 in favor of South. SHS guard, Kameron Knight, ’26, scored all 5 points for the Mounties in the quarter.
East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania recognized the winners for the 2025 Boddie Scholarship, Martin Luther King Jr. awards, and the Julianna and Wayne Bolt Art Contest. The recipients were honored at the 28th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Breakfast on January 20.
On Jan. 16, the Stroudsburg Varsity Boys’ Basketball team fell to Freedom High School with the final score of 71-57. Stroudsburg has yet to pick up a win in the new year.
Freedom came out of the gates guns blazing going on a 13-0 run at the start of the game. Back-to-back three-pointers from Alex Pacitti, ’25, and Jarel Jackson, ’27, added six points to the scoreboard.
At the end of the first quarter, the score was 24-15 in favor of Freedom. The second quarter brought more of the same, bringing the score to 38-21 going into the half.
