Stroudsburg Rifle blows through Liberty Hurricanes

On Tuesday, the Stroudsburg Rifle team battled Liberty High School at home and came out victorious with 498 40x to the Hurricanes’ 484 19x.  The top shooters for the Mountaineers were Gavin Dunkelberger, ‘25, shooting a perfect 100 10x; William Tonnies, ‘25, shooting 100 9x, and Colin Barrett, ‘25, shooting 100 5x. This was Colin’s first time shooting 100 in a match.  Other performing marksmen on the team included Anthony Ortiz, ‘26, and Isabella Lisnik, ‘25, shooting 99 9x and 99 7x, respectively.  Currently, the SHS Rifle team sits at 5-1 with 3 matches remaining. District team competition begins on January 30 and state individual qualifiers are set to complete in February.  For more information, follow the Facebook Stroudsburg High School Rifle Team.

Stroudsburg football players named EPC All-Area

Wide receiver Kamari Coleman, ‘25, was one of the star players on the Stroudsburg Football team this season and apparently, it’s not just the Mountie Nation that thinks so.  The Morning Call reported Coleman totaled 793 yards and 12 touchdowns in only 47 catches.  This set him atop the EPC rankings as a second-team All-EPC receiver for his senior season. Coleman was also recognized by The Morning Call as an EPC All-Area player. Ehan Dudsak, ‘25, was another player who played a huge role in the Mountaineers’ passing success during the 2024 season. Pulling in 62 receptions for 618 yards, and seeing the endzone six times, he was Stroudsburg’s most reliable receiver.

Stroudsburg Chess Team ties with Lehighton

After losing back-to-back games to Pocono Mountain West and East, Stroudsburg squared off for the win against Pleasant Valley and tied with a team that was 0-3. The win against Pleasant Valley kept hopes alive with only five games left in the season. Then, the SHS Chess team tied with Lehighton on Thursday 01/09/25 with a score of 3.5 to 3.5. Duncan Ruschman, ’26,  Jacob Pachter, ’27, and Mason Ulmer, ’27, checkmated for wins while Jacob Bajek, ’25, tied. The team now stands at 4-3-1 as they look ahead to district standings. After starting the year with high hopes at 3-1,  the team was hoping for the first and second spots in the District 11 standings, but recent losses to both Pocono Mountain teams humbled those hopes. Since tying with Lehighton, their district chances are dwindling. Stroudsburg would have to win their next three matches while Pocono Mountain East and West would have to lose the rest.
