Description This is a new program being offered in Monroe County to assist with transportation to medical appointments for residents that do not qualify for other transportation programs. You can sign up for the Care Connects transportation program through MCTA. Please see attached application or apply online.Care Connects is a partnership between MCTA and Pocono Mountains United Way and provides transportation to medical appointments and pharmacy visits for individuals who do not qualify for other MCTA transportation programs. There are no income or age restrictions, so it is an excellent opportunity to assist individuals who are just getting by and don’t qualify for other transportation assistance. This program is good for trips that begin and end in Monroe County only and was made possible by funding from Sanofi.

It seems like getting to the bus at the end of the day is like “mission impossible”. Dodging backpacks, getting sprayed with perfume, and averting your gaze from overly affectionate couples saying goodbye are the typical obstacles to navigating the hallways nowadays. Friend groups block off hallways and getting anywhere on time is a real challenge. Slow walkers are everywhere and hallway etiquette has long been forgotten. Students are tired of putting up with messy halls and need to see a change.  “It makes me so angry,” expressed Norah McCabe, ’25, “There’s an obvious hallway etiquette people ignore because they just want to sit and chat.” It’s time to pick up the pace and get moving. 

Tonight, the red-hot girls’ basketball team takes on Pocono Mountain West to close out their 2024-25 regular season action. The girls won 10 consecutive games, with their most recent win on Saturday against Bangor, 56-40. A couple of weeks ago, the girls clinched a spot in the playoffs and currently sit in the sixth seed in the District XI 6A standings. They have dominated the last couple of games, winning their games last week by an average score of 25.5 points. This includes their dominating win last Thursday against Pleasant Valley, winning by 49 points. This is a rematch of an earlier season matchup between Stroudsburg and Pocono Mountain West where the Lady Mounties won by 39 points at home. By the end of the night, the girls will know who they will play in the District XI 6A playoffs as they look to climb the rankings in their last game of the regular season.

The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) announced that the first-ever cohort of the Accelerated Special Educator Certification program has completed coursework to become special educators in the Commonwealth. Seventeen East Stroudsburg University students were among the 142 students from 14 colleges and universities to successfully complete the program work funded through a grant.
