Five members of East Stroudsburg University’s faculty and staff went to Ghana this summer on a ten-day study tour of edifices and legacies of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, colonialism, and its impact on Africa and the African Diaspora. While there, they visited the Elmina and Cape Coast Slave Castles, the political science department at the University of Ghana and the Provost and the Deans of the College of Education University of Cape Coast, which is the third-largest university in the country and exclusively set up to train teachers. They discussed the possibility of establishing an exchange program between the faculty and students of the two universities. They also visited the W.E.B. DuBois Center, the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, and toured the National Cultural Center.

On Tuesday, December 19, 2023 there will be a Hydrant Replacement on Washington Street from Courtland Street to Crystal Street. Some residents and businesses may experience a water outage during this time. The effective areas will most likely be on the Eastern side of Crystal Street, including the Post Office and CVS. Once the repairs are finished, a boil advisory will be effect until further notice.

The Twin Boroughs Recycling Center will still be open during the closer of the Lincoln Ave access. Residents need to use the Prospect Street to Forge Road and make a left-hand turn into the Recycling Center in order to access the Recycling Center, until Lincoln Ave re-opens. A reminder that the Twin Boroughs Recycling Center will be closed on November 10th and 11th in observance of Veteran’s Day.

A Snow Emergency has been declared for the East Stroudsburg Borough beginning Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 3AM until Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at 8AM. Waste Management has notified the Borough that they will be operating on a 2-hour delay (subject to change, based upon weather conditions). Waste Management has notified us that any residents that did not have their trash picked up this week due to ice on their roads, that they will pick-up your trash next week on the collection day, Tuesday, January 23, 2024. In anticipation of future snow fall, we are asking all those residents that still have their cans out to please bring them back in. Thank you for your cooperation!

The East Stroudsburg Borough is currently under a Snow Emergency. Waste Management has advised that they will not be picking up trash today and will pick up tomorrow. I enjoy playing the viola, I’m in the Color Guard, and I enjoy playing video games when I’m not doing either of those.   How do you judge a person? I judge a person by how they act with other people, and by their personality.
