Don’t Let Big Brother Tell What to Read: Discussing 1984 at the Pocono Mountain Public Library

Pocono Mountain Public Library kicks off Banned Book Week with a Book Club dedicated to George Orwell’s classic dystopian novel, “1984.” In 1984, Big Brother watches your every move and feeds you your every thought. Those who think the wrong thoughts are deemed thought criminals and pay the consequences. How does Orwell dystopian novel of authoritarian mass surveillance compare with the world we live in today? Big Brother doesn’t want you to know, but we do! Join Joe and other readers for a fascinating discussion on this important, but very readable novel on Tuesday, September 20th at 2:00pm. Reserve your copy at our library by calling 570-894-8860 #2 or emailing joe@poconolibrary.org. You can also find 1984 as an e-book on our digital platform, Hoopla, for free. All you need is a library card.
