The Mountaineer urges SJHS to get involved!
At Stroudsburg Junior High, students may not be aware of the extra-curricular activities that are available to us.
Extracurricular activities are a significant factor in long-term high school success. Most colleges look for students who are involved in these activities.
Stroudsburg Junior High School has a diverse amount of clubs that could look great on a college application. An example is the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). This club can look very good on a college application because it allows you to volunteer for different organizations and compete in things that you excel in that you may be interested in doing for a future career.
At the Mountaineer, we asked a wide variety of students about this club and the results were shocking. Going into this, the thought process was that students would know more about what activities are here at SJHS.

What movie/show could you never get tired of watching?
The entirety of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. It doesn’t matter what era or version, what animation style or movie. It’s by far my favorite series on earth. The new movie was awesome!
What would you do if you only had 24 hours left to live?
I would spend the day with the people I love the most, and tell them everything that I was too embarrassed or afraid to tell them before.
What is your passion in life?
Music, music, music. Always music. I have synesthesia, and it basically allows me to see and feel colors while listening to them (it’s a real thing pinky swear). I’ve been singing for as long as anyone in my family can remember, and I’ve played the viola since 4th grade.

Probst: Schools are Not Business
Pa. state Rep. Tarah Probst spoke at the joint House Appropriations and Education Committees' Pennsylvania Education Tour at Kings College in Wilkes-Barre. Probst brought attention to the many education bills that House Democrats have passed that would help the children of the Commonwealth which are still waiting Senate approval. She also pointed out cyber charter school funding needs reform because these schools are getting excessive funds, more than is needed to operate and this is on the backs of our taxpayers.
