Marshalls Falls Is Now Open!

At long last, Marshalls Falls Park is open. We are overjoyed with the response the opening garnered. It took the better part of two decades to finally see this park come to fruition. Smithfield Township owes a debt of gratitude to many folks.

In 2020, Supervisors Lovenheim and Pride presided over the acquisition of the former Titania house, which allowed for the township to finally obtain the necessary PennDOT permit for the park to open. Construction for the first phase concluded earlier this year and would not have been possible without the acquisition of the house or several grants spearheaded by former Supervisor Barrett.

The invaluable support from Congressman Matt Cartwright, former Senator Mario Scavello, Senator Rosemary Brown, and Representative Probst enabled Smithfield to receive grant funds for construction from the PA Departments of Community & Economic Development as well as Conservation & Natural Resources.

Troopers Investigate 'Terroristic Threats' Toward Monroe County Wawa

The Wawa at 1781 Route 209 got the calls around 10:30 p.m. Friday, April 19, troopers said.

The store was temporarily closed and employees were evacuated while police "conducted a walk-through and assessed the building," according to the release.

Nothing suspicious was found and the store reopened, police said.

The matter remains under investigation by PSP's Fern Ridge station.
