Lackawanna County Senior Expo: A Successful Event for Our Community

Last week, I had the pleasure of co-hosting the Lackawanna County Senior Expo alongside the Lackawanna County Area Agency on Aging and my colleagues in the House and Senate. The event was a wonderful opportunity for seniors to connect with local resources and services, and I was thrilled to see such a great turnout.

Thank you to the many seniors, vendors, and dedicated staff who helped make the expo such a success. It was a privilege to meet new constituents and catch up with so many familiar faces.

DA: Former corrections officer bribed by inmate

MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A former corrections officer has been charged with bribery after receiving payment for sneaking in a cell phone to an inmate, according to the Monroe County District Attorney.

Officials say there was a warrant issued for Raymond Wilson, 53, of Kunkletown, who surrendered himself and admitted to using an empty deodorant container to smuggle a cell phone into the Monroe County Correctional Facility for an inmate to use in exchange for $1,000.

The district attorney says that is the second arrest of a corrections officer this year for offenses surrounding criminal conduct during their official duties.

Wilson has been charged with bribery, criminal use of a communication facility, and other related charges.
