TOBYHANNA, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Thursday the Tobyhanna Army Depot held its 7th annual Industry Day for local and private companies. Making connections is the mission of the Tobyhanna Army Depot's Industry Day.
Businesses are invited to the depot and learn how they can be involved in the opportunities Tobyhanna Army-Depot has to offer.
"Working with the government can be a very challenging process it's a unique process, we want to educate them on that so that they know what websites they have to go to, what the process is, but most importantly who they can contact here to support them," says Kristyn Smith the chief of staff at Tobyhanna Army Depot.
Through various briefings, presentations, and industrial tours, each company can learn if they are a good fit for the base.
Former Chief Robert "Bob" James LaBar, 77, of Cresco, PA passed away Monday August 21, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born in East Stroudsburg, PA to Charles W. LaBar and Linnie (Bradford) LaBar. Along with his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jane Boise. Bob was the loving husband of Mabel "May" (Harrison) LaBar, to whom he was married for 55 years, although he claims he received a year off for good behavior. Along with May, he is survived by his siblings, Charles L. LaBar and wife Marlene, and Ann Chopek; children Christopher R. Harrison and wife Susan, and Joshua LaBar; grandchildren Edward R. MIDDLE SMITHFIELD TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY(WBRE/WYOU) — State police say they arrested a man after he chased and shot at another man in Monroe County.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, on August 6 troopers were called to a shooting incident at My Place Bar & Grill in Middle Smithfield Township around 1:30 a.m.
After further investigation, PSP said a man, later identified as Jose Ramos, 39, of Stroudsburg, chased a 30-year-old man with a gun and then fired one round at the victim.

Please exercise caution when traveling the following roads during the time period beginning Wednesday (8/30).
The Township’s contractor will stripe approximately 30 miles of roads – we cannot state exact times and days of specific roads, but ask that you simply exercise caution when traveling on any of the following roads.
Please note that we are required by the state to stripe all Township roads with double yellow and white lines in order to remain eligible for the annual liquid fuels funding the Township receives.
In the near future, the Township Road Crew will be installing stone shoulders on the five miles of roads that were paved this season. Stay tuned for further updates.
