Chief Dobson said fire crews, dive teams, search and rescue teams, and drone operators were called in from three counties to assist with the search efforts.
Officials say first responders located the missing man's body a few hours into the search through the use of penetrating sonar about 20-30 feet from the shortline.
The victim has been identified at this time but their identity is being withheld pending notification of the family.
Responding departments included West End Fire Co., Barrett Township Fire Co., Blue Ridge Hook and Ladder Co., Tunkhannock Township Volunteer Fire Co., Jackson Township Fire Department, Coolbaugh Township Volunteer Fire Co., Stroudsburg Fire Department, Gouldsboro Volunteer Fire Co. and Covington Independent Fire Co.
CHESTNUTHILL TOWNSHIP: Three Weeks before the West End Fair, a couple of Volunteers were discussing with the director of the West End Food Pantry (WEFP), Karena Thek, what to do with the two (2) Beverage Coolers to make them stand out. They discussed using contact paper on the sides and adding the West End Food Pantry Logo. The two Volunteers had the idea to reach out to Bay Image of Brodheadsville to see if they would consider donating vinyl wraps for the coolers. The ask was for a very Basic Wrap consisting of a light gray background, with the WEFP Logo on the top portion and Bay Image's Logo on the bottom portion noting that they donated their services.
COOLBAUGH TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Officials state five dive teams are searching a lake in Monroe County for a missing man.
According to Monroe County Communcation Center dive teams in Lackawanna, Luzerne, Wayne, Pike and Monroe County were called to Dresser Lake for reports of a man in the water.

MONROE COUNTY(WBRE/WYOU) — A woman is being charged after police say she was found unconscious at Camelback Lodge and then began assaulting, staff, EMS, and officers.
According to the Pocono Township Police Department, on August 13 around 10:00 p.m., officers were called to the Camelback Lodge for an intoxicated woman found unconscious in the water park who was trying to fight employees when she awoke.
On the scene, police said they found 49-year-old Joanne Reily of Bath, who was extremely intoxicated and uncooperative with officers, security, and EMS. Reily was then placed under arrest and transported to Lehigh Valley Pocono Medical Center to be evaluated.
TOBYHANNA TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY(WBRE/WYOU) — Firefighters from three counties are fighting a major fire at a medical supplies manufacturer in the Poconos.
Crews are on the scene of a fire located along Commerce Boulevard at Medline Industries in Tobyhanna Township where they tell 28/22 News that the fire is believed to be in the middle of the building.
As paving is becoming more expensive, a Monroe County municipality is looking to save money by trying out a different process to fix its roads. Pocono Township is the first in the area to try out microsurfacing.
A preventative maintenance sealing treatment that’s used to extend the life of blacktop roadways is making its debut today in Pocono Township on Laurel Lake Road. It’s called microsurfacing, an alternative to tar and chip.
Pocono Township Commissioners Vice President Jerrod Belvin says, "The good thing is not everybody gets stones on their car or tar up in their wheel wells and the neighbors don’t get all the chips blown on to their driveway anymore."
Not only are drivers known to like it better but it’s considered safer by having better traction.
EYEWITNESS NEWS(WBRE/WYOU) — Attorney General announced the arrests of two Monroe County residents for an alleged straw purchasing operation that involved a woman buying guns for her boyfriend, a convicted felon.
According to Attorney General Michelle Henry, Melissa Saldana and Ramon Roldan, Jr., both age 39, are charged with numerous violations of the Uniform Firearms Act, and false swearing.
An investigation by the Office of the Attorney General discovered Saldana repeatedly bought firearms for her boyfriend, Roldan, who was prohibited from having firearms due to multiple felony convictions.

EAST STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Schools across the nation are facing serious teacher shortages, but one district in our area is bucking the trend.
The East Stroudsburg Area School District is adding 60 new teachers to classrooms this year.
These teachers are getting a few lessons of their own before their students head back to class at the East Stroudsburg School Area District's Annual Teacher Induction Ceremony.
"It's an opportunity to try to give them the foundation, the skills, and the baseline that they'll need to continue to grow and be successful every day in the classroom," said Stephen Zall the Director of Human Resources at East Stroudsburg School District.
The induction is comprised of different training sessions and exercises. This year the district is welcoming 60 new teachers to its schools. Many of the incoming teachers are just starting their careers.
STROUD TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — According to the Stroud Area Regional Police Department (SARPD) a Stroud Township man has been arrested after he sexually assaulted a child and allegedly produced and distributed child pornography.
SARPD says on Friday, August 11, officers received information from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), regarding the sexual abuse of a child, and the production and distribution of child pornography at a home in Stroud Township, Monroe County.
Police say, based on information learned from an ongoing investigation, a search warrant was executed at a home on Avenue A in Stroud Township.

East Stroudsburg area school district bus driver Charlene Bisbing has had the same morning routine for the last thirty years.
She buckles up, turns on the engine, and hits the road.
It's a job she loves but says it's become more dangerous due to reckless driving.
"With the number of children that are coming into the district, the amount of cars on the road, distracted driving, people multitasking, they're driving on their cellphones, they have earbuds in, they're not paying attention," Bisbing says.
