Many of you travel US209 regularly and are also aware of the safety concerns along this corridor. Our community has mourned several tragedies along this stretch of roadway, and it is clear we need some upgrades to increase safety. A contract has been awarded on this project, and I would like to clarify some of the concerns that have been raised in my office.

DESIGN:

Work on this project includes roadway widening, roadway rehabilitation, pavement removal, median barrier installation, traffic signal removal, drainage upgrades, stormwater management, and more. Ultimately, when this project is complete there will be no access to or from US209 at Beaver Valley Road.

Public Notice Sealed bids will be publicly opened and read by the Stroud Township Board of Supervisors at a special meeting to be held at 2 PM on Monday, March 25, 2024, for the purchase of the following, to wit: quarry stone and road construction materials. Bid awards for said materials shall take place at the regular meeting of Stroud Township Board of Supervisors to be held at 7 PM on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. All materials shall conform to PennDOT specifications and standards as provided in Publication 408, as amended. The Township Manager shall receive all bids by 10 AM, Monday, March 25, 2024. It’s already looking to be a busy kitten season in Monroe County. Last year AWSOM Animal Shelter was inundated with calls and there weren’t enough fosters to go around. This year, with your support, they’re hoping to help them all.

Anita Martin is taking care of six kittens in her Bartonsville home. She’s been fostering with AWSOM Animal Shelter for the past 12 years and says it couldn’t be easier.

Martin explains, "The shelter trains you from A to Z. They provide all the supplies that you could possibly need, the medications, moral support 24/7 if needed."

The nonprofit already has four litters in foster care but they’re expecting hundreds of kittens this season that will be too young to adopt.
