Regarding the sale of Grace United Church of Christ on Sullivan Trail in Tannersville (Pocono/Jackson Townships Historical Society)

I am Elizabeth Casciano, the listing agent for the Grace United Church Property and abutting Cemetery on both sides of Sullivan Trail. The living church members are selling the church and cemetery for the SOLE PURPOSE OF RAISING MONEY TO TAKE PERPETUAL CARE OF THE CEMETERY. EVERY DIME OF THE PROCEEDS WILL BE PLACED IN A TRUST MAINTAINED BY THE TANNERSVILLE UNION CEMETERY COMMITTEE, AND THEY WILL BE SOLEY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CARE AND FUTURE PRESERVATION OF THE CEMETERY PROPERTY. IF THE CHURCH IS NOT SOLD AND SOON... IT WILL FALL DOWN. THE PROPERTY IS UNDER CONTRACT, AND THE GENTLEMAN WHO IS PURCHASING IT WILL BE SIGNING DOCUMENTS ENFORCED BY THE SELLERS ATTORNEYS AND BY THE STATE TO ENSURE THE PROTECTION OF THE CEMETERY GROUNDS. THE BUYERS DO NOT HAVE ANY INTENTION AT THIS TIME TO BRING DOWN THE CHURCH AS THEY ARE HOPING IT CAN BE SAVED. THE MAIN ISSUES ARE IN THE FOUNDATION, WHICH I WILL NOT DISCUSS IN THIS POST.

Ms.Tkach’s departure

Mrs. Tkach is a biology teacher and Aevidum advisor at Stroudsburg High School. Recently, she’s had an opportunity to work at the Temple/St. Luke’s School of Medicine as a curriculum coordinator in charge of medical students. She seized her moment, even though she was sad to leave her students behind. She said, “The hardest part was knowing that I would have to leave my students and colleagues as well as Advideum.” Her students were sorry to see her go, and her first and second-period classes threw a farewell party for her on her last day, October 31. A student of hers, Abigail Hevener,’27, commented, “She’s so nice and supportive with all of her students. She always has a smile on her face, and makes her classroom feel welcoming to everyone. I’m going to miss Mrs. Tkach, and hope she enjoys her new job!”

FBLA winner of Dress to Impress – Rebecca Dishong!

Mountaineer staff writer, Rebecca Dishong, is used to spotlighting others as she writes feature stories and senior spotlights for the school newspaper. This time, she has earned her own spotlight. Dishong, a member of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), recently won Dress to Impress and was awarded $300 as a result. This competition was nationwide and FBLA provided the money for the clothes. Dishong was chosen as the winner out of 100 of her peers. Mrs. Haggerty, FBLA advisor, said, “I am proud of her for being willing to take the time to put forth the effort and very excited for her and our chapter for being recognized and winning. This type of recognition can elevate the chapter’s reputation both locally and at the state/national levels.” These are the types of things that make Stroudsburg High School well-known in places like Regionals and States for FBLA competitions.

“The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” book review

This is a tale of rising to fame from the depth of nothing. Where people know her name but could never guess what it took to get her name in lights. Explore the innermost thoughts of a mastermind, a calculating, alluring, and bold movie star. How cruelly she crushes competition under her stilettos, yet possesses the fierce nature of a woman in love. The truth behind old Hollywood scandals, seven marriages, and (the truth a lowly reporter has clawed from the deepest depths of this star’s heart) who the love of her life was.   Or simply put: the life story of one Evelyn Hugo.  “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” by Taylor Jenkins Reid is a historical drama that can be found at local bookstores and libraries. It’s recommended audience is youth or yound adult 15+ due to some topics that may be inappropriate for younger readers. “
