“Ice Bucket Challenge” makes a comeback
The “Ice Bucket Challenge” returns– But who’s really being seen?
Who would have thought a social media trend from over a decade ago would make a comeback? The “Ice Bucket Challenge,” which went viral in the summer of 2014 to raise awareness and funds for ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), has now returned—but with a new purpose: mental health advocacy.
Nothing has brought more awareness to ALS than the “Ice Bucket Challenge” during the summer of 2014. The ALS Association said the original challenge began when professional golfer Chris Kennedy dumped ice on his head to cheer up a relative who had ALS. Kennedy challenged people, who challenged more people, and the trend blew up once Peter Frates, a Boston College baseball player who was diagnosed with ALS, participated.

The Electoral College
The Electoral College is one of the most confusing components of American politics. The college determines how votes are split up for presidential elections throughout the country.
According to the U.S. Vote Foundation, the Electoral College was established in 1787 during the Constitutional Convention as a compromise. The delegates were torn between wanting Congress to elect the President and the American people to elect the President.
The Electoral College begins with the people. Each state varies in population; therefore, a different number of representatives to Congress. Every election is different since states can gain and lose both population and representatives.

Meet Buzz
Hi, my name is Buzz, and I am 4 months old. I’m a German Shepherd. I am as sweet I as can be. I love to play with toys, eat treats, lie on the couch, and get cuddles. I came into camp as an owner surrender (due to no fault of his own) with my brother, Woody. I am hoping to be adopted by a family who will keep me and my brother together.
Help Buzz (and his brother) find a home together. Share my spotlight, please.
You can always help by making a donation to your local animal shelter or volunteering at a local animal shelter.
