Changes coming to Pennsylvania highway welcome signs & license plates

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -- Governor Josh Shapiro unveiled new Pennsylvania license plates and "Welcome to Pennsylvania" highway signs today.

According to the Governor's Office, the new license plates and welcome signs show off the new "Let Freedom Ring" design meant to celebrate Pennsylvania as the birthplace of American Democracy and highlight the state's leading role in the celebrations of the United States in 2026.

“Pennsylvania is the birthplace of our democracy, and as Governor, I have been focused on advancing real freedom across the Commonwealth,” Governor Josh Shapiro said. “With all eyes on Pennsylvania as we prepare to host our country’s 250th birthday in 2026, our new license plates and welcome signs will celebrate the best of what the Commonwealth has to offer and show the country why Pennsylvania is the Great American Getaway and the birthplace of American freedom.”

Pennsylvania Supreme Court Upholds Stroud Township Ordinance Prohibiting the Discharging of Firearms

In the evolving legal landscape of Second Amendment rights, the case of Barris v. Stroud Township[1] emerges as a significant judicial examination of the balance between individual gun rights and local government regulations.

Located in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, Stroud Township is subdivided into more than a dozen zoning and overlay districts.[2] In 2009, Jonathan Barris bought a 4.66-acre property in Stroud Township’s residential district. Barris’ property is adjoined by woods and a water feature to the north and by a commercial shopping center 400 feet to the south.[3] Barris built a personal outdoor shooting range on his property, and the neighbors made multiple complaints to the police about gunfire coming from Barris’ property.[4]

Former employee accused of assaulting workers

TANNERSVILLE, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man is facing charges after police say he assaulted employees at his former employment.

On June 23, around 3:00 p.m. the Pocono Township Police Department was called to the rear of Weis Plaza in Tannersville for a fight.

Two wanted for alleged retail theft at Target

Through further investigation, police say ex-employee Anthony Felix, 38, from East Stroudsburg came to Weis to cause a disturbance.

During the fight, Felix threw glass at employees, damaged a car with a metal pipe causing significant damage, and threw rocks, as stated in the release.

Officers noted Felix was also intoxicated during the incident.
