The Mountaineers were ahead from the start and didn’t let up.  They had a 10-point lead throughout and ended 25 points above the Timberwolves.

Guard, Emily Bozena, ’25, had 14 points in the game. Bozena stated, “I’m sad my last season is ending.” Bozena also shared that she is happy she got to experience playing not only with her teammates but her friends. She said, “This season we played more like a family than a team.”

The Smithfield Township Board of Supervisors shall hold their regular meetings for the 2025 calendar year on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month from January through October. East Stroudsburg residents are voicing their frustration after the Borough Council approved a 29% property tax hike at their December 17, 2024, meeting. Concerned citizens argue that the council has failed to explore viable alternatives before placing the financial burden squarely on the shoulders of taxpayers.

Cartwright, from Moosic, has been a major advocate to restore rail service between Scranton and New York City.

Tuesday, The Lady Mountaineers won over district rival Pocono Mountain East for the second time this season 53-36.

The Mountaineers and Cardinals fought a competitive game. They were neck and neck throughout the first and second quarters. They kept finding themselves tied with the Cardinals 18-18, 24-24, and 28-28. The Mountaineers took the lead after the third quarter putting them at a 31-28.

On January 21, 2025, the Stroudsburg chess team demolished East Stroudsburg South by a score of 6-1. This win not only helps the team’s record but also boosts the team’s morale for the last game of the season and next season.

With big wins from Duncan Ruschman, ’26, Matthew Sanchez, ’25, Jacob Pachter, ’27, Megan Lisnik, ’26, and Claire O’Donnell, ’26. After ties from Jacob Bajek, ’25, and Mason Ulmer, ’27, this brought us to the final score of 6-1.

East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania recognized the winners for the 2025 Boddie Scholarship, Martin Luther King Jr. awards, and the Julianna and Wayne Bolt Art Contest. The recipients were honored at the 28th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Breakfast on January 20.
