Spraying for Gyspy Moths

Confirmed with Paradise Twp municipal secretary, DCNR, and the person in charge of gypsy moth spraying...the helicopter activity in our area is due to DCNR spraying for gypsy moths. They use Bacillus Thuringiensis Kurstaki (BTK), a biological pesticide that targets caterpillars in a very particular stage of development. They're spraying trees, not meadows. That was just an FYI.

Police trying to ID man who stole cash boxes from gas station

STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Police in Monroe County are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who allegedly stole two cash boxes from a gas station.

On Sunday around 5:30 a.m., officers say a man entered the Sunoco gas station at 1550 North 9th Street, Stroudsburg, and asked the clerk to open the outside bathrooms for him.

5-year-old flown to hospital after scooter hits SUV

BLAKESLEE, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A five-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after crashing into an SUV while on his scooter Monday evening.

According to the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department, on Monday around 6:22 p.m., officers were called to an incident involving a child on a scooter in Blakeslee.

Police say a 5-year-old boy riding a scooter could not stop before arriving at the intersection on Matthews Drive and Kirtley Court.

STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Healing through music. The State Department of Drug and Alcohol Secretary Dr. Latika Davis Jones paid a visit to Pyramid Healthcare’s Stroudsburg Outpatient Center, to participate in a music therapy session.

Taking steps toward recovery through music.

The stop is a part of a statewide tour to learn and gather feedback from addiction treatment specialists, to find out how to better combat the opioid and overdose epidemic across the commonwealth.

Edwin Burgos Pleads Guilty and is Sentenced for his Role in the Death of Stroudsburg Man.

On March 18, 2023 the victim, Steven Nitschke was found deceased in his Stroud Township apartment. The Stroud Area Regional Police Department along with the Monroe County Office of the District Attorney, Criminal Investigations Division, investigated and were able to trace back the source of the drugs.

The source was Edwin Burgos, a 39 year old co-worker of Steven’s. Burgos was arrested and charged by Detective Kim Lippincott in August of 2023 after investigators were able to obtain enough evidence showing that he delivered the deadly dose.
