Three wanted for alleged retail theft at Pocono Outlets

TANNERSVILLE, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police are searching for three people who they say committed two separate retail thefts at the Pocono Premium Outlets. The Pocono Township Police Department is looking to identify three suspects who allegedly stole form BOSS located in the Pocono Premium Outlets. Victim scammed out of money, fearing ‘spell’ placed on family The first theft occurred when two people, a man and a woman, entered the store on May 25. The second theft happened when a man came into the store two days later on May 27.

East Stroudsburg University Announces Spring 2024 Dean’s List

A total of 1,404 students have been named to the Dean’s List at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) for the Spring 2024 semester of the 2023-2024 academic year, according to Margaret Ball D.M.A., provost and vice president for academic affairs. Students eligible for the Dean’s List are those who have attained a 3.50 quality point average or better and are enrolled full-time. And that likely won’t change this year, or possibly anytime soon.Dozens of pages of emails between PennDOT and the National Park Service obtained by The Morning Call through Freedom of Information Act requests show a constant back and forth, with some email chains going over several weeks and seeming to demonstrate a lack of urgency that has upset residents, business owners and local officials.The stretch of highway, which winds through Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area from Portland and Upper Mount Bethel Township in Northampton County to Delaware Water Gap Borough in Monroe County, has been blocked to all traffic since December 2022, forcing drivers on lengthy and expensive detours.

Coroner IDs man killed at bar in Middle Smithfield Twp.

MIDDLE SMITHFIELD TWP., Pa. - The Monroe County Coroner has identified a man killed at a bar last week.The manner of death for Henry David Koroma, Jr., formerly of Scranton, was ruled a homicide, according to Monroe County Coroner Tom Yanac.Yanac says he is not yet releasing the cause of death pending further investigation.Police have said they have an active arrest warrant for homicide for Matthew Herberto Morales. Police said Morales is wanted following a shooting that happened at My Place Bar and Grill on Milford Road in Middle Smithfield Township-- near East Stroudsburg.Morales has yet to be apprehended, authorities say.Monroe County District Attorney Mike Mancuso says Morales is a fugitive and is possibly armed and dangerous. If anyone has information on his whereabouts, they're asked to call 911.The shooting happened just before 11 p.m. Friday.

PA tourism campaign sponsors NASCAR Cup Series race at Pocono Raceway

LONG POND, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Governor Josh Shapiro and the Pocono Raceway announced Thursday the name of the upcoming Annual NASCAR Cup Series Race. According to the release, the name of the series race will be the Great American Getaway 400 Presented by VISITPA. The 160-lap, 400-mile race is scheduled to kick off on Sunday, July 14, at the "Tricky Triangle" in Long Pond and will be sponsored by Pennsylvania: The Great American Getaway, a new tourism campaign to increase tourism in the Keystone State. "NASCAR Cup Series races are some of the biggest and best sporting events in the world, and nobody does it better than Pennsylvania," Governor Josh Shapiro said in the release.
