As a resident deeply rooted in the Pocono community, I find the recent proposal to shut down the TLC Park basketball courts not only unfair, but detrimental to our town. This move comes in response to a singular, unfortunate incident of violence that happened last week. I believe punishing the entire community for the actions of one individual is a direct attack on the spirit of our community. More than just a place to play games, these courts serve as a safe space for our youth, fostering friendships, developing talents, and keeping them occupied in a positive, healthy environment.

Paradise Township Enforces New Regulations on Former Chestnut Grove Resort Property to Address Community Concerns
(MONROE COUNTY REPORTER)Paradise Township, PA — In response to increasing concerns from local residents, Paradise Township has enforced a new set of regulations on the property at 106 Carlton Road, formerly known as Chestnut Grove Resort. The property, now owned by Chestnut Grove Resort Realty, LLC ("CGRR"), has been a source of noise and disruption since its acquisition by Joseph Mamrout and Albert Mamrout, who are using it for private purposes. The transition from a public resort to private use has led to numerous complaints from neighbors regarding noise violations, late-night fireworks, and other disturbances. Existing ordinances were deemed insufficient to address these issues, prompting the township to impose stricter regulations.Key Provisions of the New Regulations:
PMSD to receive over $6 Milllion in Additional Funding
A huge WIN for OUR SCHOOLS!Pocono Mountain School District will receive an additional $1.2 million through the BEF Fair Funding Formula (a 4.5% increase), and an additional $647,790 in Special Education Funding (a 8.4% increase), $2,281,225 in Adequacy Funding (a 6.5% increase), and $385,569 in Hold Harmless relief. Pocono Mountain will also receive about a $1 million cyber charter reimbursement, and $280,686 for school safety (mental and physical).Totals just over $6 MILLION-- and that's just for POCONO MOUNTAIN!The budget did not include private school vouchers, which is very positive news.Cyber Charter reform will include much needed oversight, just like the public schools that use public money, and we will finally have some much needed information about their wasteful spending. This is a step in the right direction.Data Source:
