East Stroudsburg University’s Provost’s Colloquium Series, an intellectual experience that promotes dialogue among ESU faculty, staff, students, and community, continues Fall 2024 semester with a presentation by Samuel Quainoo, Ph.D., professor and chair, political science and economics; Artress White, Ph.D., associate professor, English; Donna-Marie Cole-Malott, Ph.D., assistant professor, professional and secondary education/ instructional design technology; Ko Mishima, Ph.D., professor, political science and economics; Lavar Peterson, helpdesk manager;, and Beth Sockman, Ph.D., professor and chair, professional and secondary education/ instructional design technology. The presentation, “Destination Ghana! A Travel Abroad Opportunity for Students Linked to ESU’s New Black Studies Minor” will take place on Wednesday, October 9, at 4:30 p.m. in Stroud Hall 117.

Governor's Advisory CommissionsOn Tuesday, October 1, East Stroudsburg University welcomed Governor Josh Shapiro’s Advisory Commission on African American Affairs and Advisory Commission on Women for a panel discussion. Critical issues affecting African Americans and women, such as Black Maternal Health, the CROWN Act, and Menstrual Equity were discussed. ESU President Kenneth Long was in attendance and greeted the panelists after the discussion.

Volleyball loses against Jim Thorpe

On Tuesday, Stroudsburg matched up against Jim Thorpe and lost 3-1. Stroudsburg fell short 25-15 during the first set. They regrouped during the second set and took the win with 25-23. Emily Bozena ’25 made several offensive kills to lead this set. The Jim Thorpe Olympians took the next two sets leaving the Mountaineers 3-1. Their next matchup is against East Stroudsburg South today at East Stroudsburg South High School.
