Abortion: your body, your vote

With less than a week away from the 2024 Presidential election, abortion has been a key topic to determine the sway of voters.  Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee, has been clear that all women should have the right to make decisions about their own body, and the government should not be in control. Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, has expressed his opinion that the states should have the right to choose and that “everyone wanted it back to the states.”  “The government should not control abortion to an extent. It should be the same for all of the states,” states Sophie Best, ’26. In his first term, Trump appointed six supreme court justices, which, in 2022, those justices overturned Roe v. Wade, a 1973 case determining the right of abortion. The phrase, “My body, my choice” reignited the debate with COVID-19 vaccinations and efficacy. Now, the phrase is more commonly used on the topic of abortion.

Shots fired on ESU campus

On early Sunday morning, October 27, students were enjoying a Halloween costume party at Zimbar Gym when people noticed many non-students entering the party. They called the police for help, and soon after they arrived, five shots went off in a nearby parking lot. Luckily, no one was harmed. A couple of people have been detained for questioning. This is an ongoing investigation, so if anyone has further helpful information or video footage, East Stroudsburg University encourages you to call 570-422-3064.

Is AI overtaking human creativity?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) was created in the 1950s and its popularity has been increasing since. In the last decade arguments have been made that artificial intelligence is developing too quickly. The arts and education departments have taken the biggest hit from this AI idolization. Artists are emerging faster than drawings can be traced and paintings painted. It is a familiar déjà vu, like when TikTok users referred to themselves as dancers during COVID-19. Unsurprisingly, COVID-19 was a huge accelerant in the AI business.
