Every year emergency responders are struck and seriously injured or killed due to driver's not slowing down and moving over in an emergency response area.
The Stroud Area Regional Police Department would like to remind everyone of the Move Over Law in Pennsylvania.
This law requires all drivers to slow down or move over for all emergency responders including police, fire, ambulances, tow trucks and maintenance crews.
Failure to slow down or move over for emergency responders will result in a:
- $500 fine for the first offense,
- $1,000 fine for the second offense,
- $2,000 fine and 90-day driver license suspension for third and subsequent offenses.
- Penalties increase for incidents that seriously injure or cause death to another person.
Help save a life, please slow down and move over!
