The Jackson Corners one-room school has been refurbished but has undergone no COVID-19 modifications. It can be seen just as it was more than 80 years ago during an “open house” from 1 to 4PM, Saturday, September 19, 2020. The school is located at 234 Miller Drive, Appenzell – next to St. Mark’s Church. You’re invited to observe the educational surroundings of the Spanish Flu era, and to weigh the pros and cons of that simpler(?) time. No visitation charge and plenty of free parking. Staff from Pocono-Jackson Historical Society will be on hand as hosts.

Meet Freshman QB, Jackson Mitchell

The Mountaineer’s won their Homecoming game last week with a dominating performance over William Allen. With a score of 42-0, Stroudsburg matched their season high in points. At 5-4, the Mounties have their eyes on a winning record and the post-season.

As with any successful season, it takes a team effort every week. One key contributor to the team has come from an underclassmen stepping up. 

In 2004, Scott Borchetta, CEO of Big Machine Records, first saw Taylor Swift perform at Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe. 

When she was only 15, Swift was signed with Big Machine Records. A year later, she released her first single, Tim McGraw, and her career blew up.

Swift’s success has been rampant since her debut album, Taylor Swift, in 2006. In years since, she recorded six albums with Big Machine Records, a well-known record label, and four with her producers.

Four East Stroudsburg University students are spending the summer in Washington, D.C. interning with organizations, agencies and legislators. Nine East Stroudsburg University students attended the program “Academic Seminar on National Security” through The Washington Center in Washington, D.C. The seminar, which was held May 16-24, gave college students from across the country a more in-depth understanding of the policy, operations, technology and risks surrounding cyber and national security in the United States.

The newest member of East Stroudsburg University’s Council of Trustees (COT), Damali Jackson received the oath of office on Wednesday, June 1 from COT Chairperson, L. Patrick Ross ’67.

President Kenneth Long was on hand for the official ceremony. Jackson is a junior majoring in communication from Henryville, Pa.
