Senator Brown States, Emergency Funds Require Emergency Action Now

MONROE COUNTY – Sen. Rosemary M. Brown (R-40) and officials from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) secured emergency funding in January and have been working diligently behind the scenes to acquire the necessary permits and specialized labor to address the safety concerns on Route 611 – which has been closed since December due to rockslides. The goal is to reopen this critical roadway for motorists, even just to one lane.

Madden: Patient Safety Act is a Promise Kept


During debate on HB106 on Wednesday, June 28, state Rep. Maureen Madden, D-Monroe, voiced her support for the Patient Safety Act and noted its passage is a promise kept to nurses across Monroe County and the entire commonwealth, who've long been advocating for safer nurse-to-patient ratios. This is a great day for the unions who've been fighting for this for years, Madden said, and a giant step forward in prioritizing safety for hospital patients across the state.

ATTORNEY GENERAL HENRY ANNOUNCES FIFTH ANNUAL DRUG TAKE BACK WEEKEND AT POCONO RACEWAY

LONG POND, Pa.—Attorney General Michelle Henry announced that her office is again partnering with Pocono Raceway for its annual Drug Take Back event during a NASCAR race weekend at the track from July 21-23.

Attendees on all three days can bring unneeded and outdated prescription medications to the track and safely dispose of them at the OAG’s take back location outside of the main entrance at the raceway.

Madden: Minimum Wage Raise Long Overdue


During a House floor debate on Wednesday, June 14, state Rep. Maureen Madden, D-Monroe, said that if Pennsylvania had raised its minimum wage as economists suggested more than a decade ago, people would be better off today, and fewer folks would be reliant on government programs. Raising the wage now, she said, will mean savings in the future that can be used toward mental health, education, fixing schools, and more.
