Big news in today's letter from the Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance (NEPA-Alliance) to Smithfield Township (added to photos):
FIRST PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE FOR MONROE COUNTY AND ON BEHALF OF EAST STROUDSBURG AND STROUDSBURG BOROUGH FOR THE FEDERAL FISCAL YEAR (FFY) 2024 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) PROGRAM Notice is hereby given that the Monroe County Commissioners plan to submit an application to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) for Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. The County has not been informed as to the amount of FFY 2024 allocation nor the deadline to submit the application.
Pa. state Rep. Tarah Probst discusses the historic education funding bill that was passed by the House this week and sets the record straight on some misconceptions being circulated online. Probst says this bill will not raise property taxes in Monroe and Pike counties and urges everyone to contact their state Senator to get this measure onto Governor Shapiro's desk.

The Eastern Pennsylvania Conference announced its First and Second Team All-Stars after the league's 18 coaches casted their votes.
Pocono Mountain East was the only school from the Poconos to have a First Team selection as senior Adam Horvath made it as a pitcher and junior Rocco DelGiudice was selected as an infielder. Horvath also received Second Team honors as an outfielder while sophomore Bobby Ehrmann was selected as an infielder.
Below are the full EPC First and Second Team selections, followed by the All-Monroe County team, which includes all Pocono teams in the EPC.

The Local Share Account grants were approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
