After waiting nearly 21 months for relief, people who depend on using Route 611 through the Delaware Water Gap may finally get some relief.
U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright’s office announced Friday afternoon that PennDOT and the National Park Service have reached a compromise to reopen the highway that was closed in December 2022 because of a rockslide in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.

On Tuesday, July 16, State Representatives Tarah Probst (189th) and Tarik Khan (194th) circulated a Co-Sponsorship Memorandum to all House members announcing plans to introduce legislation to create a public awareness campaign for the new 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
The Board of Governors for Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) today voted unanimously to freeze tuition for in-state undergraduate students for the 2024-25 academic year. This is the unprecedented seventh consecutive year the undergraduate tuition rate will remain the same at East Stroudsburg University.
The repeated freezes save students nearly 25% in tuition costs compared to the price if tuition had risen at the inflation rate for the last six years.
The Commissioner’s meeting was off to a slow start, with no public comment on agenda items.
The Commissioners recognized community leader Wayne Bolt, who passed away last week. Commissioner Laverdure spoke about some of Mr. Bolt’s many contributions to the Monroe County community.
Also notable, Commissioners voted to award a $513,090.00 contract for parking garage repairs to South Shore Construction, LLC, a company based out of Roselle, New Jersey.
East Stroudsburg Area School District will receive an additional $1.2 million through the BEF Fair Funding Formula (a 9.2% increase), $610,062 in Special Education Funding (a 10% increase), $5,551,465 in Adequacy Funding Tax Equity (a 23% increase), and $994,999 in Hold Harmless relief. East Stroudsburg will also receive about $655,349 in cyber charter reimbursements, and $223,754 for school safety (mental and physical).

Polk Township's Board of Supervisors held a special meeting to vote solely on the Effort Solar Conditional Use Application.
The supervisors voted to deny the application. The votes were the following:

After the meeting, I confirmed with township solicitor that the motion was 3-0 for denying the application and he said yes it was 3-0.

Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG)
There are a wide range of more than 20 activities that are eligible under the CDBG Program.
Grantees are free to select those activities that best met the needs of their communities. However, in order to ensure that the primary objective of the CDBG Program is met - the benefit to - low and moderate-income persons - grantees must ensure that all activities meet a National Objective:
