Public Hearing on Amending Short-Term Rentals Ordinance

LEGAL NOTICE Notice is hereby given that the Middle Smithfield Township Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on November 7, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at the Middle Smithfield Township municipal building at 147 Municipal Drive, East Stroudsburg, PA 18302, to re-ceive public comment and to consider and possibly adopt an ordinance, of which this notice is a summary, amending the Middle Smithfield Township Code of Ordinances at Chapter 150, Short-Term Rentals, adding provisions regarding the installation and use of a noise monitor on the property.

On October 2, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives Health and Human Services committee voted unanimously in favor of House Bill 2533, cosponsored by state representatives Tarah Probst and Tarik Khan. HB2533 would create a public awareness campaign for 988, the suicide and crisis lifeline; current data shows only 25% of the public has awareness of this service.
