As we take a look at what’s new in area school districts this year, Stroudsburg High School is taking the school store idea to a new level.
News13’s Nicole Walters gives high school students and parents a sneak peak at the Mountaineer Market.
Stroudsburg High School Principal Jeff Sodl and District Superintendent Cosmas Curry couldn’t resist doing some back to school shopping of their own today. Even though they were just supposed to be giving News13 a tour of the new school store.
"Can you ring this up for me now?"
High school students are going to have a whole experience at Mountaineer Market.
Sodl says, "We try to promote school spirit and just walking in there, it just screams Stroudsburg Mountaineers so it’s really exciting."
Forget just buying a pencil and some easers.
ALLENTOWN, P.A. – Last week, the Lehigh Valley in PA-07 filed its application to be designated as a Tech Hub: a designation that would qualify the region for $50 to $75 million in CHIPS and Science Act funding to spur semiconductor production and job growth. This is an investment that Congresswoman Susan Wild (PA-07) has been working to bring to the region since she wrote the bill establishing the Tech Hubs program—the Regional Innovation Act—that passed into law through the CHIPS and Science Act.

Sunday, December 3, 2023, 3:00 pm, “UNMATCHED” – six players, six wind and string instruments – flute, recorder, oboe, bassoon, violin, lute, and harpsichord in many combinations. The instruments blend and contrast, call and respond, stand out as soloists, and form a cohesive whole. The program starts with a concerto by Vivaldi followed by works of other baroque composers: Telemann, and lesser-known Zelenka, Janitsch, Fasch, and Boismortier.
NEWS 13 is taking a look at what's new in area school districts this year... and the Pleasant Valley school district is implementing something new as news 13's Ameenah Thompson tells us they're giving students a chance to be more vocal about what they need.
Superintendent James Konrad says, "We do have a new student information system called Power School so one of the big lifts for our community is just to make sure that they're creating the accounts to access all this digital information."
Superintendent James Konrad tells us families will have access to grades, attendance and behavior he says they also changed their bus system.
Konrad says, "PVE the elementary school and then also PVI the intermediate school and so we have students in grades K through 5 on the same buses."
He says that reduces costs for transportation.
As the new school year approaches East Stroudsburg school district is implementing something new. They're helping students get a jump start on their college education. As News 13's Ameenah Thompson tells us they're helping students get a jump start on their college education.
Matthew Trioli Principal here at East Stroudsburg says, "So what we're doing for our students this year is we're offering two programs one is dual credit, dual credit program is when you would take a class whether its through East Stroudsburg University or Northampton community college it would count towards they would get a college credit for it."
South principal triolo says it would go on their college transcripts and then on their high school transcript it would count towards one of their required electives.
They say you should do one thing that scares you at least one time and News 13's Ameenah Thompson did just that, as she jumped out of a plane for this week's summer fun idea.
