Community comes together after loss of athletic director

STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A Monroe County school district is mourning the loss of its athletic director following a tragic crash the night of their prom. Stroudsburg High School Coach Sean Richmond was killed this weekend after being struck by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 380. 28/22 News spoke with a player who remembers Richmond as the man who rekindled his motivation to join the wrestling team. “If I had to say a favorite memory it’s when he kinda like pulled me off to the side one day and told me, ‘You’re gonna be playing varsity wrestling,’ and I was just really happy about that and I just really saw him as my coach and he was just an amazing person,” Karis Wilkins stated.

At the ceremony, Marcy Cetnar ’21, a graduate student studying management and leadership, delivered the keynote speech entitled “Success Does Not Have a Time or Age Limit.” Dr. Sylvester E Williams, IV, Dean of ESU’s College of Business and Management also presented “Prepare for a Career in Business.” The ceremony recognized the academic achievements of the most outstanding students studying business management and administration. To be eligible for membership for Sigma Beta Delta, a student must be in the top 20 percent of their junior, senior, or graduated class, and be invited by faculty.

Two arrested in suspected plot to steal cooking oil

TANNERSVILLE, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Police arrested two people they believe were plotting to steal cooking oil from two Monroe County businesses. On April 30 around 4:45 a.m., the Pocono Township Police Department said they were called to an attempted theft from the Scotrun Diner. Investigators arrived on the scene and said they learned two people parked a van next to the grease traps in the rear of the diner and left after being noticed by a witness. Wanted Monroe County man arrested in NY Several minutes later, officers said they found a van matching the description from the witness parked next to a grease trap at New York Pizza. Officers approached the van and encountered Allentown residents Deyvi Santo De Jesus and Steven Caraballo Matos.
