Ashley Baker had just finished speaking at East Stroudsburg University’s Take Back the Night march on April 18 when she had to hop in her car to drive to Washington, D.C. for a roundtable discussion at the White House the next morning. A few days earlier she had received the invitation from the executive director of It’s On Us, a national nonprofit group working to combat sexual assault on campuses. Tracey E. Vitchers asked Baker to participate in the roundtable to learn about changes to Title IX, the 1972 law that prohibits discrimination in education based on sex.

By Justin Glowacki,STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Police in Monroe County are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who allegedly stole two cash boxes from a gas station.On Sunday around 5:30 a.m., officers say a man entered the Sunoco gas station at 1550 North 9th Street, Stroudsburg, and asked the clerk to open the outside bathrooms for him.When the clerk went to open the bathroom, he told investigators he realized the man was still in the store. After returning to the store, he told officers he found the male pictured above behind the counter with two cash boxes.According to the release, the man fled the store and was last seen running away on North 9th Street.Authorities have not indicated how much money the alleged thief got away with.

BLAKESLEE, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A five-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after crashing into an SUV while on his scooter Monday evening.According to the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department, on Monday around 6:22 p.m., officers were called to an incident involving a child on a scooter in Blakeslee.Police say a 5-year-old boy riding a scooter could not stop before arriving at the intersection on Matthews Drive and Kirtley Court.According to investigators, while the victim was pulling up to the intersection he hit the rear bumper of an SUV being driven by a 47-year-old woman.The child was flown from the scene to Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar-Crest.Chagres have not been filed against the driver and police did not say the victim’s current condition.  https://www.pahomepage.com/news/5-year-old-hit-by-car-while-on-scooter/
