Dr. Salome Thomas-EL ’86 to Return to ESU as Undergraduate Commencement Speaker

thomas salomeAlumnus Dr. Salome Thomas-EL ’86 will be the keynote speaker for East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania’s two undergraduate commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 4 in Koehler Fieldhouse. Dr. Salome Thomas-EL lives in Pennsylvania with his family and has been a teacher and principal since 1987. He is currently a K-8 principal in Wilmington, Delaware and received national acclaim as a teacher and chess coach at Vaux Middle School in Philadelphia, where his students have gone on to win world recognition as eight-time national chess champions.

Brown Announces More than $2.5 Million in Grants for Local Infrastructure Improvements

HARRISBURG – Sen. Rosemary Brown (R-40) announced more than $2.5 million in grants is being awarded for local transportation improvement projects across Monroe, Wayne and Lackawanna counties. “I am pleased to have assisted in securing the necessary funding for important projects and upgrades within our region,” Brown said. “Investing in our infrastructure is essential for the safety, growth and prosperity of our communities. These grants are a significant step toward our ongoing efforts to ensure our roads, sidewalks and public spaces are safe and accessible. I look forward to seeing the positive impact these projects will have in the district.”
