MONROE COUNTY, Pa. — Swinging a hammer helped raise money for affordable housing over the weekend in Monroe County.

Eight teams of four women each competed for the Golden Hammer on Sunday at Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort. The friendly competition—called She Nailed It!—was a fundraiser for Monroe County Habitat for Humanity.

The objective was to see who could hammer the most nails into a 2 x 4 in two minutes.

"This is all so we can help repair homes here in Monroe County," said Scott Fabian from Monroe County Habitat for Humanity. "That's what we do. We repair homes, rehab homes to put low-income people in housing, because housing is such an issue here in Monroe County."

After the Golden Hammer competition, visitors could take in some music, games, and raffles at the event in Smithfield Township.
