Attorney charged with tipping off client of police investigation

MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police say they arrested and charged a Monroe County attorney for giving his client a hint that a search warrant would be executed at his home. According to Pennsylvania State Police, investigators discovered an attorney, William Austin Watkins, of Tobyhanna, told his client confidential information, breaching his official duty. The criminal complaint reports Watkins claimed to have overheard a conversation between troopers that a search warrant was going to be executed and firearms were involved. Watkins believed the search warrant troopers spoke of could involve his client, and informed him to "not commit crimes," police stated. As stated in the affidavit, Watkins admitted that he told his client that he "needed to get rid of any firearms."

Calling all foodies!

Most people would expect the largest buffet in America would be located in a big city like Las Vegas or New York, but it’s actually right here in rural Pennsylvania! This buffet is known as Shady Maple Smorgasbord. According to Shady Maple Smorgasbord, Mr. and Ms. Martin began their business by selling produce on the roadside in front of their home in East Earl, Pennsylvania in 1962. This stand, located under a group of maple trees, is where the name Shady Maple Farm Market originated. In the 1970s, their daughter, Miriam Weaver and her family would take over the business and open the first block building to sell produce. Teaming up with the Independent Grocers Alliance (IGA), they installed a grocery department, and the Shady Maple business began its journey with two cashiers and a few hard working employees.

Club Helping Fellow Transfer Students Find Their Place at ESU

Transfer HubWith new faces, new routines and a new campus to navigate, transferring colleges can often feel like an intimidating adjustment. At East Stroudsburg University, the Transfer Student Hub is helping ease that transition, providing a support system for students who are finding their way in unfamiliar territory. The club, which is made up of both transfer and non-transfer students, gives new transfers a space to connect, build relationships and ask questions about everything from academic resources to campus life. But more than just an orientation resource, its members say it is a community that understands the challenges transfer students face.
