Boys’ Soccer culminates dreadful season

On Wednesday, Stroudsburg closed out their season with a loss to Pleasant Valley. The final score of the game was 4-0. It marked the fifth time the team was shut out this season. The most times they have been shut out since 2021. Stroudsburg’s final record this season was 5-13, their worst single season mark since 2017, a year they went 1-9-1. To end the season, the Mountaineers lost 13 out of their last 16 games. This year marks Stroudsburg’s fourth consecutive losing season. They won 7 games in both 2021 and 2022, and won 6 games last season. The seniors departing the team after this year are Jacob Bajek, John Casey, Aidan Coyne, Franco Ferro, Byulent Gegov, David Hauer, Kacper Liszewski, Nick Malas, Oliver Marga, Dominic Ozaeta, Michael Padilla, Ben Pilcher, Leonel Ramirez, and Matthew Sanchez Nugra. The team will now look to bounce back in the 2025 season, starting next August.

Double Cross Country wins

On Tuesday, Stroudsburg Boys and Girls Cross Country ran against Pocono Mountain East, Pocono Mountain West, Pleasant Valley, East Stroudsburg North, and East Stroudsburg South. After a long 5k (3.1 miles) in 60-degree weather, Aiden Nieman, ’25, finished first for the boys, with Kaiden Hein, ’25, shortly behind him in sixth. For the girls, Julia Grant, ’26, led the team finishing in second overall, closely followed by Carolyn Roberti, ’25, in third. Nieman had a successful season, finishing it off with a time of 16.54 seconds. Our girls’ team defeated all five competitors, and the boys lost only to North. Next up for both teams is the EPC Championships at DeSales University next Tuesday, October 15.

Pennsylvania is one of the top hunting states in the U.S.  Hunting season dates are based on the animal you plan to hunt and the weapons you use. The variety of game in the Poconos is almost endless. Hunt the generic whitetail deer, or expand your horizons to hunt different game during the open season. 

Man dies after being hit by car on Rt. 115

CHESTNUTHILL TWP., MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Monroe County coroner announced a man was killed after being hit by a car on Route 115. According to Coroner Thomas A. Yanac, on Thursday around 5:00 a.m., a man was walking along Rt. 115 and was hit by a car. The victim, a 57-year-old man from Chestnuthill Township, was found unresponsive lying in the middle of the road and later pronounced dead on the scene.

Fare capping via bank cards will provide discounted fares for one day ($4), seven-day ($20), and thirty-day ($64) usage. Discounted fares will be available to eligible college/trade school students and persons with disabilities. Children, and students K-12 with valid school issued IDs, may ride for free.
