Welcome to “Script to Screen” a podcast that compares books to their movie adaptations.

Through this series we will compare and comment on aspects of both the book and adaptation. From characters and plot to groundbreaking scenes, we plan to cover it all.

This episode covers the book series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” by best-selling author Rick Riordan as we compare it to the TV show, movie, and musical adaptation.

The series follows Percy Jackson, a demigod son of Poseidon, as he goes on quests with his best friends Grover Underwood and Annabeth Chase. Through the series a war breaks out among the titans and the gods as Kronos, the father of the 12 Olympians, attempts to reign as king yet again. With demigods choosing sides, plenty of life-threatening quests, and a prophecy that destined Percy Jackson to destroy or save the world, everything is put at risk.

There are over 20 books in the Percy Jackson universe including the original “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” books, “The Heroes of Olympus” books, “The Trials of Apollo” series, “The Kane Chronicles” books,   the “Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard” book series, and plenty more stand-alone short stories and novels. You can find some of these books in the SHS  library.

On Disney+ you can find both the two movies and TV series.

In the movie, Percy Jackson is portrayed by Logan Lerman; Annabeth Chase is portrayed by Alexandra Daddario; Grover Underwood is played by Brandon T. Jackson, and Luke Castellan is played by Jack Abel.

In the TV series, Walker Scobell plays Percy Jackson, Leah Jeffries plays Annabeth Chase, Aryan Simhadri portrays Grover Underwood, and Charlie Bushnell portrays Luke Castellan.

We cover topics such as plot differences, characterization, analysis between text and film, and much more.

This podcast is not spoiler-free so proceed with caution.
