National Voter Registration Day was Tuesday, Sept 17. Many corporations and celebrities have promoted the importance of registering to vote.

Stroudsburg High School promoted registration by showcasing a voter registration table during the Activities Fair on Thursday, Sept 19.

The last several elections have shown the growth of youth involvement. According to Tufts, 23 percent of voters were youth in 2022, and that is growing in every state.

“Young people have a different take on modern life than older people do, so by making your voices heard and by being involved in politics, you make sure that people that think like you, are elected to represent you.” Sophie Best, ‘26.

Tufts illustrates a map of the states with the most youth voters in the 2022 primary election. The most being Michigan (36.5 percent), Maine (35.8 percent), and Minnesota and Oregon (35.5 percent).

“Every vote matters. When you don’t vote you are not helping yourself to get to a point in the country that is best for you,” says Will Tonnies, ‘25.

In Pennsylvania, you can register to vote until Oct 21, 2024.

If you are over 18, you can register to vote at vote.gov
